Stila Eyeshadow Collection & Swatches

All products in this post were paid for by me.

This all started because I really wanted MAC Smoke & Diamonds eyeshadow, but the only way I could get it in a way that didn't kill my wallet was to buy a decent dupe, which is Stila Diamond Lil eyeshadow. I bought it on eBay, and because of my sickness in which I don't like anything to be alone, and I like consistency in my freeform palettes, I uh...acquired 29 more. >.>

Please note that I didn't buy any of these eyeshadows at full price. Most of these I got on All Cosmetics Wholesale. I also bought several on eBay. Most of them I paid under $10.00, and I think the highest price I paid was around $15.00ish. Since these retail for $18.00, I think that's pretty good.

Anyway, I have 30 Stila single eyeshadows in 2 Z-palettes to show you today, and I really like them. There are a couple of duds, which I'll note below. Here we go!

  • Chinois - This is a matte pale beige that's got a slightly greyed, eggshell feel to it. A very nice browbone highlight. Quite pigmented, looks a bit chalky in the swatch, but works great none the less.
  • Prize - A very glittery light gold. Very powdery and kicks up a lot of dust when you put a brush to it. Lots of fall out as well, but it's a pretty color.
  • Heather - Light shimmery pink.
  • Cloud - Similar to Heather in lightness of the shade, only it's more greyed & neutral.
  • Wheat - A nice light champagny gold. This one's very pretty.

 photo stilaeyeshadowswatches2_zpsaa84f2d1.jpg
  • Launey - A light satiny peach with lots of very fine gold glitter.
  • Oasis - Perfect champagny light peach.
  • Dune - It's hard to see, it's almost the exact same color as the skin on my arm. A matte skintone shade. It's pigmented and would be a great all over lid color or a base to blend other colors against.
  • Eden - Similar to Dune in lightness, it's just mauvey. A nice blender color.
  • Kamet - This one was a dud for me. It looks like a light grey in the pan, almost like MAC's Copperplate, but the texture was extremely dry & hard. I had to scrape product out of the pan with a small spatula to get this swatch. Bummer.

 photo stilaeyeshadowswatches3_zps42e54a46.jpg
  • Sun - A champagne sparkle color with some fine glitter. It's similar to Oasis only Oasis is gold & Sun is peachy.
  • Sparkle - A somewhat subdued gold. I like this one a lot.
  • Champara - Nice light brown matter color.
  • Chinchina - Very similar to Champara only more reddish.
  • Viola - A lovely mauvey shimmer.

 photo stilaeyeshadowswatches4_zps22594008.jpg
  • Shore - An interesting lilac silver with quite a bit of glitter. It's a bit darker than it appears here. Really nice color.
  • Jezebel - Peach shimmer.
  • Tolima - Another matte brown. Darker than Champara & Chinchina.
  • Tone - A matte dusty purplish shade. This one didn't swatch very well, there's not much pigmentation going on. It looks much darker in the pan than it swatches.
  • Pigalle - A cranberry shimmer. This one had medium pigmentation.

 photo stilaeyeshadowswatches5_zpsbf55834b.jpg
  • Grace - A lovely taupey shimmer. Seems a bit more cool toned in real life than it is here.
  • Ray - Orange shimmer.
  • Kalahoo - Nicely pigmented matte gray, leans purple. I'd recommend Kalahoo over Tone.
  • Poise - A pretty plum shimmer in the pan, but a pain to swatch. Very patchy.
  • Illimani - Gorgeous matte red-brown. Great pigmentation.

 photo stilaeyeshadowswatches6_zps00001dc5.jpg
  • Golightly - I think this is a popular color, and it's easy to see why. It's a beautiful bronze shimmer.
  • La Douce - A rather murky olive shimmer.
  • Diamond Lil - My absolute favorite of all of them. It's so complex. There's grey, there's taupe, there's gold. You need this one.
  • Twig - A nice reddened brown shimmer.
  • Indigo - A matte navy, somewhat patchy, but not the worst by any means.
So what do you think? Do you have any single Stila eyeshadows?

Have a good weekend!

Lorac GloGetter Palette Swatches

Hey all! If you only get ONE palette this summer, I highly recommend this one that I have to show you today. Lorac GloGetter! What a cute name. As far as I know, this palette is only available at Ulta. It is gooorgeous!

 photo loracglogetterpalette_zpsa3183652.jpg
This palette is very sleek and minimalist, something that I really enjoy from Lorac. I also have their Pro Palette and the packaging on that is also very sleek and simple. GloGetter is just a very thin simple brown case with gold lining and teal text that spells LORAC.

Try to contain yourself! How beautiful is that? It's so perfect so for summer! Lovely neutrals plus some pops of color. The color choices are absolutely perfect. I couldn't have picked them better myself.

 photo loracglogetterswatches_zps9c56cfed.jpg
These eyeshadows are very soft, smooth and buttery. They're exactly what I've come to expect from Lorac. The pigmentation is somewhat medium, but the shades are very useable and buildable. That light blue 3 from the right end is a duochrome! It's blue lit up with gold interference. It's so pretty! Everything else is pretty as well.

I really do love this palette. I haven't had a chance to use it in an eye look yet, but when I do I'll update with some looks!

What do you think?

My Favorite Lipglosses: Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss

All products shown in this post were purchased by me.

Prior to now, if I had to choose, I'd probably say Revlon Super Lustrous Lipglosses were my favorite lipgloss formula. Honestly there really hasn't been a stand out favorite for me in the lipgloss category. I have a ton of them and there are pros and cons to every line. Really I've been kinda 'meh' about lipgloss in the past, until I met my new favorite, that is...

From left to right: Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Raspberry Reflections, Mirrored Plum (LE), Fiercely Fucshia (LE), and Captivating Coral.

From left to right: Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Striking Peach (LE), Luminous Latte, Knockout Pearl (LE), and Electric Shock.

The colors I've noted are LE (limited edition) above are from Maybelline's new spring collection called Color Goes Electric. Basically, go out and look for this collection right now! Ignore the permanent line and search for these limited edition colors, because they have a very nice color selection and I don't know how much longer they'll be available.

First, can we talk about how gorgeous that packaging is? It's so gleaming and mirror like! There's no text or wrappings mucking up the view on this gorgeous gloss. It looks very high end to me, I love it!

Now for swatches!

 photo maybellinecolorsensationalhighshinelipglossswatches_zps5e1c9d74.jpg

The best thing about these glosses are the awesome colors and the opacity. I mean there are a couple sheer ones like Striking Peach & Knockout Pearl, but the rest are all full-on, bold color that applies so smooth and opaque. Do you see how the color keeps going even down toward the end of the swatch? I just basically drag the doefoot applicator across my arm to swatch, and where most lipglosses would be petering out in color, these are still going. It's awesome!

The second thing I love about these are the texture. The texture is somewhat thick and they feel so smooth and plush on the lips. You can really feel the gloss when you rub your lips together and it feels so good! Some people have mentioned these have a graininess to them, which I find to be somewhat true, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I think they're slightly grainy because they are so pigmented.

The lasting power of these glosses is truly phenomenal! They stay shiny and colorful for hours. They really cling to the lips and that's another reason I find them to be the best lipglosses I've ever tried. They do have a mild fruit punch type of scent.

Have you tried any of these yet? If not, grab some ASAP! :)

Review: Revlon Color Burst Lipglosses

 photo revloncolorburstlipglosses_zpsdc363fd7.jpg

Now for another of Revlon's Lipgloss offerings: Color Burst Lipglosses.

Every shade but Decadent and All That Glitters are permanent.

I have to say that my swatches of All That Glitters and Crystal Water does them no justice! All That Glitters is an amazing clear gloss with tons of gold glitter. There's also a bit of copper and green in there. It's beautiful and looks amazing over various lip colors. Crystal Water is basically clear with very fine pink, purple & blue shimmer in it that's iridescent. I wish Decadent wasn't limited edition because I've never seen a purple lipgloss like it at the drugstore before.

I wish I liked these glosses more than I do, because they truly have some awesome uncommon colors. I'm not a fan of the smell, first off. It's like a creme brulee smell and it's not my favorite. Also the texture of these is very thin, and although that's nice because it's not sticky, it's not so nice because you have to reapply like every 30 minutes. These wear off really quickly. They're called 'Color Burst' but most of them are not very opaque. I do love the packaging, however, it looks really chic and high end to me.

What do you think of the Color Burst Lipglosses?

Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipglosses

Hi all! It's been a while, eh? Sorry I've been so absent on my blog. I've just been busy with, you know, life and stuff. Haha!

Anyway, I wanted to show you some of my favorite drugstore lipglosses, the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipglosses.

These colors are all permanent and can be found pretty easily at any drugstore. They tend to be pretty cheap too, like $5-6ish dollars. I really love these glosses because the colors are great and the texture is nice and smooth, only moderately sticky. They tend to last a decent length of time on my lips due to the slightly sticky texture. They have no taste or scent that I can tell. These seem really popular in the makeup world and for good reason. They're great all-around glosses that you don't have to put much thought into. They look great alone or over lipsticks or liners.

My Top 5 Products of 2012

It's the last day of 2012! I wanted to do sort of a year end favorites, but I wanted a very narrowed down list. These are my top 5 favorite products that I got the most use out of, that I'd buy again and again without question. Hope you enjoy!

Photobucket
#5: CoverGirl Mascaras. Pretty much ANY CoverGirl mascara! I've tried almost all varieties and I love them all. They have a nice dry formula that doesn't smudge on me, and they volumize like no other. They are my HG mascara. While I may stray and try others, I keep coming back to these!

Photobucket
#4: Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters. How I love these lippies! When they first came out I didn't think they were very special, but as time wore on I grew to love them the more that I wore them. When I wore these back to back with other lipsticks, I noticed how drying and dehydrating many lipsticks are! Lip Butters are so moisturizing and pleasant to wear, however. They truly leave your lips in better condition than they found them. If my lipstick collection vanished, I'd restock with Lip Butters immediately. They are the best lipstick in the world! That little nub in the back is Peach Parfait, which is my favorite shade and my most worn lipstick ever.

#3: Smashbox Halo Powder. The powder that doesn't look like powder! This is a miracle worker for my dry skin. I bought this late in 2011, and yes, it is very expensive, but I've had this one for over a year now and it's still going strong. I used to bemoan how powdery and cakey my skin looked when I wore powder. I used to spray myself with Fix+ like crazy, trying to take away the powdery-ness. Halo is magic! It doesn't even look like you've powdered your skin other than the shine is gone. It sets your makeup like a champ too, especially the under-eye area!

Photobucket
#2: Maybelline Color Tattoos. I can't even tell you how much I love these. I use them alone and they don't crease or fade away; I can use them as bases and they make my powder eyeshadows last all day. The colors are gorgeous and barely a day goes by that I don't pick at least one out for my eye look. I think they are one of the best products to ever be released at the drugstore.

Photobucket
#1: Paula's Choice Skincare. Yes, I cheated a bit and chose an entire brand for my #1. I made my first Paula's Choice order in July of this year, and I haven't looked back since. My skin has made a complete turn around. I used to have the worst skin. I had constant cystic acne but also dry flaky patches. The texture of my face was awful, like the surface of the moon or something. I used to always have to wear full coverage foundation and cake on the concealer to hide all the blemishes. I even photoshopped my own blog pics so no one would have to look at the nasties. :( Now my skin is so much better it almost brings me to tears. I wish I had discovered Paula's Choice sooner! (I really have Sasquatch Swatch to thank for it, her post on skincare inspired me to try PC.) My skin still isn't perfect, and I've come to understand that it will never be, but actually having entire weeks go by without a blemish is truly something to be thankful for.

Tell me your top 5 products in the comments! Happy 2013! Pin It

Fergie Lipstick Comparisons to Existing Wet n Wild Lipsticks

I showed you some new Fergie lipsticks yesterday. As I was picking them out I was somewhat worried that I would have dupes of the colors in my current Wet n Wild lipstick stash. So I did a little comparison. As you can see below, I didn't have to worry. There are some similar colors but no dupes.

New Wet n Wild Fergie Lipstick Swatches

Hey all. I found the new Wet n Wild Fergie stuff at one of my local Walgreens and was particularly taken with the lipsticks. I wanted to show you them as soon as I could.

I think these are majorly gorgeous! I did not get all the shades, I left behind a couple of brownish looking nudes, a glittery burgundy, and a purple so dark it looked black. It may have been black now that I think about it. I just picked up the colors that appealed to me. I wore Fuchsianista yesterday and was impressed by the staying power and the beautiful color. These are very opaque and packed with pigment. The darker shades stained my arm when I was swatching them. I find the packaging to be really nice although it does feel somewhat cheap when you open it.

What do you think? Have you seen the new WnW Fergie stuff yet?
